4/6/2015 – Patricia A. Hawkenson’s Reflections – Silent Auction

Silent Auction

My head against
the rest again
impatiently waiting
until six o’clock,
our usual spot
by the smell
of greasy burgers,
when car by car
we’d trade.

It was only a bear
left behind
on purpose,
but soft as it was
against my cheek,
it was strong
enough to break me.

Too high
a price to pay.
