2/18/10 Patricia A. Hawkenson’s Reflections – Magnetic Repulsion is Published!

Thank You, Family and Friends!

I have been blessed by your support, and your kind encouragement was the first step toward the publication of my book, “Magnetic Repulsion, 100 Poems From Desire to Disgust.”  This books was years in the making as some of the poems were written years ago.  Many new poems were added this year while gaining inspiration from a wonderfully supportive online poetry community: Poetic Asides.  I began posting poems to Poetic Asides in April during their PAD (Poem a Day) Challenge.  I have stayed connected with that group for almost a year now and have been inspired and encouraged through the voices of the other poets who share their talents on that site.  You can look on my left sidebar pages to read some of those early postings that found their way into this collection of 100 relationship poems.  The finished book is now available online at Amazon along with Barnes and Noble.  The link to go to either site is: www.outskirtspress.com/magneticrepulsion

2/15/10 Patricia A. Hawkenson’s Reflections – Twitterized

USE

Twittertized

My laundry pile
does not discriminate,
sorting itself into black or white.

I throw it in together
spinning my life
into gray.

Where my water goes
as it flows down the drain,
I do not care.

Where my sins flow
as they leave my lips,
my fingertips,
I do not know.

If water can cleanse the soul
of sins unspoken,
I need a fail whale,
an overcapacity sign.

2/05/10 – Patricia A. Hawkenson’s Reflections – Tender Point

FibroTender Point

Morning awakes in a drafty mood,
dark and sleepy,
when fibro fog slips under
her blanket
reaching down to cloud the source
of her pain.

Her head, neck and shoulders
are again unsure
if the day’s plans are reason enough
to move
her tightly knotted muscles
into a façade
of normalcy.

Her fitful sleep only provided
exhaustion
and her stiffened jaw
has difficulty concentrating
on the words needed
to explain her pain.

The slowness
in her depressed eyes
cries quietly for each ligament
each tendon,
every soft fibrous tissue of her body.

He pulls off her blanket
as she tries to stand
wondering where he is allowed
to touch her
today.

Please help support a cure for Fibromyalgia.
